Fight between siblings is already ignited and now, it gets even more fierce. Samsung is launching F-Series smartphones regularly in Nepal and the latest one is Galaxy F42 5G. Samsung Galaxy F42 5G is available in Nepal with a starting price of Rs. 31,999 for 6/128GB variant.

Design/Display

Just like iPhone 13, Samsung mid-range smartphones arrive with the same design time and again. Galaxy F42 5G arrives with the same design as of Samsung Galax A22 5G. It has a water-drop notch on the top which the company prefers to call “Infinity-V” display and has thick bezel at the bottom. This phone has 167.2 x 76.4 x 9 mm dimensions and weighs 203 g.

Samsung Galaxy F42 5G comes in a 6.6-inches TFT LCD display means NO AMOLED panel and we are disappointed with it. Thanks to the company, it has a 90Hz refresh rate. This display supports 1080 x 2408 pixels resolution and got 82.1% screen-to-body ratio, 20:9 ratio and 400 ppi density. The display is covered by Glass but the variant is not mentioned.

Performance

The popularity of Dimensity chipset is growing in mid-range smartphones and we find most mid-range devices coming with Dimensity processors. Samsung Galaxy F42 5G is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 700 5G SoC which is an octa-core processor based on 7nm technology and has clock speed up to 2.2GHz. This is the same chipset that powers Poco M3 Pro 5G which is also available in the Nepali market.

The task of graphics is handled by Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. Onto the memory, this device has 6/8GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage variants. The latter can be expandable up to 1TB via a dedicated microSD slot. It’s running on One UI Core 3.1 based on Android 11.

Camera

If there is one thing that attracts customers to Samsung’s mid-range smartphones then its Camera. Samsung has put much effort into its camera and users are loving it. Samsung Galaxy F42 5G has a triple rear camera fitted inside the square camera bump. The rear camera is led by 64MP Primary Wide Lens which is supported by 5MP Ultra-wide lens with 115˚FOV and 2MP Depth Sensor. The front quarter of the camera bump is filled with LED flash.

On the front, it has an 8MP Single Selfie camera. Both front and rear cameras can record video in 1080p@30fps.

Battery & Others

Samsung Galaxy F42 5G is fueled by non-removable, Li-Po 5000mAh battery and also got 15W fast charging, USB Type-C 2.0, and USB On-The-Go. For biometric, it has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and Face Unlock is available as usual in most of the devices.

Two color options are available with this device as Matte Aqua, and Matte Black. For connectivity, it has dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, SA/NSA/Sub6 5G Bands.
