Xiaomi unveils MIUI 13 | Top Features & Updates

After the official announcement of the Android 12 Stable update, every smartphone brand has now confirmed its own OS based on Android 12. During Xiaomi Event on December 28, the company has announced a couple of hardware and software products as:

MIUI 13

The last version of MIUI was 12.5 and now, MIUI 13 arrives as the successor. A lot of new features had been added in the last update so, this new OS inherits all the features from the predecessor and added a few more to make it more secure, customizable, and many more. This MIUI 13 has been modified for tablets as MIUI Pad and for folding devices as MIUI 13 Fold. 

New UI & Widgets

Android had widgets for a long time but it’s finally getting hype after Apple announced Widgets in iOS 14. As more and more App Developers are interested in these widgets, every Android OEM is in a race to provide the best and user-friendly widgets in smartphones. 

Xiaomi brings tons and tons of new widgets in MIUI and they also remind us of Vivo’s OriginOS Ocean. Apart from widgets, this OS has a lot of changes in its User Interface. Now, the control panel is more compact and comfortable. The company has introduced a new font: Mi Sans which is more minimal and refined.

Privacy Features

Of course, MIUI brings all the privacy features from Android 12, and on top of that, it has added some interesting privacy features. 

  • The Face Unlock has been now extended to Body Unlock. Now, MIUI can detect the upper part of your body.
  • You can put a watermark on our document so while you share your documents, it won’t get misused. 
  • The system now can protect users from spam calls/texts, malicious applications.

Better Optimization

Xiaomi has fixed more than 400 bugs from the previous software and now, MIUI 13 arrives with minimal bugs and has better optimization. This software is about to reduce frame drop by:

  • 52% in Budget Smartphones
  • 32% in Midrange Phones
  • 15% in Flagship Devices

This update can hold more apps running in the background without any lags and brings better performance in system apps.
